fABULEUS

fABULEUS offers young people a professional framework in which to create theatre and dance productions. This mission takes the concrete form of a flexible production structure in which young theatrical and dance talent works together with more experienced artists. Both youngsters (track 1) and young professionals (track 2) receive support on an artistic, logistical and commercial level. The variations are presented to a broad audience, with special attention to youngsters and children.

A Two Dogs Company

A Two Dogs Company is the team centred on the theatre-maker and artist Kris Verdonck and represents the continuation of his small Stilllab company. In recent years, Verdonck’s artistic practice has developed, expanded and internationalised to such an extent that its growth can only be consolidated if a small, flexible organisation is able to follow up on and structure the work on a permanent basis. Kris Verdonck is receiving an operational subsidy for the first time, which immediately signalled the start of A Two Dogs Company and his residency at the Kaaitheater.

Toneelhuis

Toneelhuis is one of the three civic theatre that has a resident company, and the largest theatre company in Flanders. It was set up in 1998 after a fusion of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Schouwburg (KNS) in Antwerp and the Blauwe Maandag Compagnie in Ghent.

De Munt/La Monnaie

De Munt is a federal cultural institution. In 1963 De Munt was officially named National Opera. A major turning point in the history of the Royal Monnaie was the appointment in 1981 of Gerard Mortier as general director. During his directorate, not only the building was thoroughly modernized; he also artistically reorganized the Monnaie's choir and symphonic orchestra and employed new and young staff. All this, and Mortier's choice of a more personal and peculiar repertoire, turned the Monnaie into an opera of international stature and renown.

LOD

LOD is a Ghent based production house for opera, musical and other forms of music theatre. It launches creative projects with a pool of artists (composers Kris Defoort, Dick van der Harst, Jan Kuijken, Dominique Pauwels, Daan Janssens and Thomas Smetryns, director Inne Goris, actress-director An De Donder, actor-writer-director Josse De Pauw and philosopher-writer Pieter De Buysser). Together, they produce a wide range of projects in which various artistic genres meet.

Muziektheater van Zilverpapier

At the basis of Muziektheater van Zilverpapier's music theatre are unexpected encounters between artistic genres and people of very different origins. Its productions basically involve confrontations between old and new, North and South, professional and non-professional, classical and contemporary, in an ongoing search of new forms of trans-cultural and multi-disciplinary music theatre. Driving force Brigitte Mys chose the company's name referring to the bygone western custom to collect silver foil and little mirrors ‘to help the underdeveloped countries'...

Tirasila

Ever since it was founded in 1996, Muziektheater Tirasila has developed an expressive theatrical language. Its frame of reference is non-western traditional theatre forms and genres (kabuki, noh, kathakali, Beijing opera...) ánd western physical theatre concepts alike (Artaud, Meyerhold, Brecht, Kantor, Brook, Mnouchkine, Toneelgroep Ceremonia). Headed by theatre maker Vital Schraenen, the company pursues a form of total theatre in which the multi-disciplinary performer occupies a central position.

Theater De Spiegel

As a music theatre company, Theater De Spiegel explores the common grounds between music, figures, objects, image, sound and voice to develop a particular narrative idiom for general audiences.

Theater De Spiegel has a small creative and production team. For each production, soul mates from a diversity of musical genres and artistic environments are invited. Since three years, Theater De Spiegel has been focusing on a new target group: little children, younger than three.
